About Mr Abri Venter

Mr Venter graduated from the University of the Free State in 1987 with a BMus degree. After two years as part of the SADF Intelligence corps, he started his teaching career in 1990 at Afrikaanse Hoerskool in Germiston, teaching Geography, History and Music. In 1997 he was appointed as Sectional Head of Culture and Marketing at Leeuwenhof Akademie in Bedfordview, teaching Afrikaans and Music.  It was here that his intense love for marimbas developed.

From 2022 he was appointed on a permanent basis and his dream is to make the St Catherine’s School marimba bands not only number one in Gauteng, but in the whole of South Africa! Mr Venter’s biggest wish is to fulfill his life motto:  “To let children experience the wonder of making music together.”

He is the Musical Pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church in Dinwiddie, is married to Michell and is father to two boys, Van Wyk and Bruere.
