Miss Monica Gomes

Miss Gomes received a Bachelor of Education degree (Foundation Phase) from the University of the Witwatersrand in which she majored in Early Childhood Education and English. Subsequently, she obtained her B.Ed Honours Degree from the same institution, where she researched the facilitation and promotion of language learning through play.

Miss Gomes is currently teaching Grade R and admires the enthusiasm of the young child. One of her favourite quotes is “Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow” (Anthony J. D ’Angelo). According to Miss Gomes being a teacher is like being a tour guide, where all children are encouraged to exercise their curiosity and discover the world in which they live. As a teacher she aims to guide and assist her pupils to grasp the foundational building blocks which are essential for lifelong learning.
