
About Mr Michael Pienaar
Mr Pienaar received his Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in English, from the University of Pretoria. He has an interest in learning support and was awarded an Advanced Diploma in Remedial Education from the University of Johannesburg in 2022.
Mr Pienaar started his teaching career in the government sector where he taught for a number of years before joining St Catherine's in 2022. He is currently teaching Grade 8 and 12 English and has a keen interest in instilling a love for literature in his pupils. Additionally, he feels strongly about developing his pupils’ speaking and writing abilities so they can communicate effectively and
confidently and are able to make a meaningful contribution to our society.
Mr Pienaar is involved in public speaking, eisteddfod, the drama club and cross-country as part of the school’s extra-curricular programme.
His favourite quote comes from Oscar Wilde: “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.”
