Pre-School

Overview

St Catherine’s Pre-School offers a warm, caring environment in which we bring God’s love into teaching.

Our early childhood programme is designed to nurture the development of the whole child by catering for the spiritual, academic, physical while enveloping them with love. We instill positive school habits and attitudes that will extend inside and outside of the classroom.

Our teachers are all fully qualified Pre-School teachers and they participate in ongoing professional development activities and workshops to stay current with educational trends to adapt to the changing needs of modern children and families.

They set the stage for lifelong learning and encourage the development of positive social skills that children will master as they grow older.

Religion

Spiritual Well-being

Religion is incorporated into our daily routine. Our children take part in daily prayers, Bible stories and readings. Our Grade R pupils attend Word service with our Chaplain. We celebrate Mass with the whole school on special occasions.

Educational Entertainment and Outings

We invite various organisations to visit the school throughout the year and to interact with the children as they learn.

Educational outings are organised annually where our pupils are transported by bus and the emphasis is on teaching while having fun.

The safety of the children is of paramount importance when planning all outings.

Aftercare & Uniform

Aftercare

We offer a structured aftercare programme on the school premises between 13h30 and 17h30 to assist parents who are unable to fetch their children directly after school. Our afternoon programme includes a cooked lunch, with fruit and juice on offer.

Our aim is to provide a safe environment where our children are encouraged to learn through play. The aftercare programme is less formal than the school’s daily curriculum.

Uniform

Each child is required to wear the official school uniform. Please visit our uniform page to see the uniform requirements.
