Dear Parents and Guardians

I extend my warmest wishes to you for the new year. I pray that 2022 brings you happiness and prosperity. The Festive Season is now firmly in our collective rear-view mirror, and I have no doubt that the school community is preparing for the return to work and the usual daily routine.

We have come through the peak of the fourth wave and Omicron has become a common part of our vocabulary. Despite its highly contagious nature, its milder impact has resulted in less disruption than we’ve experienced with previous waves. This means that we will re-open as planned on Tuesday 11th January 2022 for all pupils and grades. Should you need to visit the school before this date, please note that the office will be open from Thursday 6th January between 8am and 1pm. Teachers will be on duty from Monday 10th January 2022.

I wish to inform parents that we have arranged for the school to be a pop-up vaccination site on Friday 21st January. The site will be managed by Dis-Chem and will operate from 8am to 4pm on the day. This will provide the opportunity for pupils, parents and teachers to be vaccinated or to receive their booster shots depending on their circumstances. We will provide further details later next week with regard to this arrangement. Suffice to say that we encourage everybody in our school community who qualify to make use of this opportunity.

I am also pleased to report that, after some delay due to a technical issue, we are back on track with the construction of our STEAM Centre. You will notice that the roof sheeting has been installed and the construction team will return to site on Monday 10th January. We believe that the completion date will be at some point in March. I will keep you posted.

In conclusion, I would like to extend our congratulations and best wishes to Mr Brugman in the Preparatory School, who announced his engagement during the holidays. We wish him and his fiancé the very best of luck. Good wishes also go to Miss Adams in our reception office who celebrated her marriage in December. We wish her and her new husband every happiness.

Enjoy the last few days of the holiday. I look forward to welcoming our school family back next week in the knowledge that 2022 will be a year of opportunity and success.

Yours faithfully

Mr D.I. Maritz
Head of School
